His first real faceup. I don't think I have any pictures of Jeremie as he first arrived with the default Heath face... Although I didn't have time to do a full repaint for about 2 weeks after his arrival, I quickly darkened his eyes with pastels and watercolor pencils over the original paint.

I modified his upper lip by sanding it down quite a bit, and then resculpting definition. His lip is now much less pointy and the entire mouth area is less dimpled and smiley. Looking at the modifications after a couple of days, I can see that I didn't do it perfectly evenly... The left corner of his mouth is still kinda smiley. I don't know if I'll correct it though... I might exaggerate it a little with the next faceup. It could be interesting to have him with a crooked smile, so that he would appear serious or humorous from different angles. I have to think about that.

I'm still something of a beginner when it comes to faceups so I do some strange experimental things... ^^; It's not clear in these photos but I painted the hairs of his brows in a downward direction. Most painted faces have the brow hairs slanting upwards, like the way you're supposed to brush brow hairs for a "neat" look according to makeup tutorials. But looking around at Japanese guys, their brow hairs often slant in the opposite direction! So since I wanted Jeremie to have a visual kei style for this faceup, I painted the hairs in the same direction as the guys in Shoxx. ^^ I'm not sure how I feel about it... It IS more accurate for this kind of look, but I suspect most people don't know that and might just think I did it "wrong."

I made the leather coat myself, using the prince coat pattern in the 3rd Volks pattern book and some old black pleather I've had lying around for a couple of years. Only the top part was finished when I took these pictures. ^^;

The eyes in these photos are Volks metallics, green-gray 14 mm. I can't recommend 14 mm as a good size for Heaths because they're really too small and it's tricky to set them, but I had them around... Anyway, although the whites are too small, I think the iris size is surprisingly good on him.
